Message from Principal

Dear Garden City Elementary Families and Community,

It is with immense excitement and a deep sense of commitment that I introduce myself as your new principal, Antonio Byrd. I am truly honored to join this wonderful community and look forward to working alongside all of you to create an outstanding learning environment for every child.

I came to Garden City Elementary with over 25 years of experience in the field of education. My journey began in 1999 as a first-grade teacher, and since 2007, I have had the privilege of serving as an educational leader. During my time in administration, I have focused on helping students achieve their best academically, using effective teaching methods, creating a positive school environment, supporting our teachers' growth, and ensuring every student feels safe and well. I am enthusiastic about building a dynamic and supportive place where every child can thrive.

My core belief is simple: all children can learn. Each child learns in their own way and at their own speed. I strongly believe that once a child's basic needs are met, the educators in their lives have the biggest impact on their success. This is why I am so dedicated to building a strong school culture around three key ideas: commitment, connectedness, and learning.

You will often see me around the school! The best part of my job is being in the classrooms, talking with students and teachers, and seeing the amazing learning happening every day. I am eager to get to know each of you and your children.
